Data primarily from Pontis were used to select problem bridges in the substructure, superstructure, and deck condition categories. Data outside of Pontis were used to select problem bridges in the seismic, scour, bridge rail, deck width, load capacity, vertical clearance, paint, coastal bridge cathodic protection , and movable bridge categories. Increases in the costs of traffic mobility and project staging have also influenced the popularity of targeting route segments for repair and replacement projects.
This report outlines practical aspects of progress and challenges in implementing Pontis while attempting to maintain the comprehensive nature of the category bridge management system in the STIP development process and implement a corridor-based approach to project selection.
Projects include developing a bicycle boulevard network comprised of enhanced wayfinding signs and shared lane markings, traffic calming, pedestrian islands, stutter flash pedestrian signals RRFBs , and widening of sidewalks at critical crossing locations and bus stops.
Award of this grant will benefit 33, people in three neighborhoods Cal Young, Harlow, Northeast. Facility development includes a consistent wayfinding sign network and shared lane pavement markings, traffic calming in strategic areas to reduce automobile speeds and increase comfort for walking and bicycling, and installation of pedestrian islands and signals to make it easier to cross arterial streets. These improvements would also increase access to transit stops, and make it easier for school children to walk or bike to school.
This grant would fund a few key multimodal improvements that will make it easier to walk, bike, and access transit in south Eugene. The implementation of the project will help establish a major component of the River-to-Ridges active transportation corridor linking the Ruth Bascom River Path on the north to the Ridgeline Trail on the south.
