Somehow all of the connecting and disconnecting from the charger caused the XT to 1 delete my half marathon from record 2 reassign the date of all of my other activities to today.
This is intensely frustrating, as I wanted to see my splits and my heart rate from the race. I noticed that in addition, my setup for the screens to display heart rate, pace, total time, etc had been reset to the default. I downloaded Garmin Express, and spent 45 minutes trying to get the utility to pair with my XT.
When it does, it tries to pair. Definitely not. It has a lot of potential, and I like the idea of being able to track my activities and heart rate, but there are too many problems and glitches and headaches associated with using the XT.
This makes me a little uncomfortable when considering purchasing their other products as well. Just saw your post.
I have the same problem with mine getting stuck on the boot screen. Wish I knew what the problem was. Waiting is a real pain. How often does it happen to you? Many of the problems still remains ! It reads data to the computer, but freezes while transferring data to the site. I unstalled Garmin Expressed, downloaded it from Garmin ver. Yes, I use it for races. It has four key flaws for me that leave me wanting something better. It takes a while to locate the GPS when starting.
It fails amidst tall buildings most GPS watches probably experience the same issue. It is gigantic which can be a positive in the sense that you get more info on a screen. And most importantly, it seems like a miracle when the ANT Agent actually transfers data properly.
The poor connectivity is just such a dealbreaker for me. Absolutely inexcusable. They really should have just used a USB cable for this.
Well, I have been using my Garmin XT for about 7 years now and the only issue I ever had was the wrist band broke and needed to be raplaced because I used it too much. I had a Polar prior to my Garmin and the wrist band had broken nearly one year after I bought it. I guess it is all a matter of luck. Anyway, if you are happy that is good for you. Everything else seems fine though.
Syncing has never been a problem. Or if I change directions. I have the same problem with the activity history. It all shows yesterday, a couple minutes apart. Were you able to fix it? Now what I do is I sync the device, then manually find the. Did you ever find a fix? Hi Elizabeth, a fix to which part? I have to manually import every single activity. Allllll, very frustrating.
My guess is that the firmware is really buggy and Garmin never bothered to fix them. Funny, yesterday my Garmin was useless after a full charge because it must have bumped up against something in my bag and turned on by mistake.
I got the Low Battery warning as soon as I turned it on! April fools cruel joke by garmin? I initially followed a Youtube for the hard re-set and it is incorrect! My xt screen has gone blank after 6 months of regular use. Anyone to help please? Thanks for the tip to just let it sit and see if it boots up. I bought my watch in December It finished booting up after 20 minutes, but I only had a half mile left of my run at that point….
Hey, thanks. Please try again. No idea at all where this came from and when i tried resetting them i could only set one, otherwise the garmin just would over write it to time to next. Have you ever experienced this. Yes you will lose any data that was on your Garmin but it works again with normal booting. Charge it back up again and your good-to-go. Be sure to use the latest Garmin Connect software. The new version took me a while to figure out the basics like editing an entire activity, not just the name.
Most recently, my XT has gone hours before actually starting up. I tried creating a run workout on the garmin connect website and attempted to transfer that to my xt. The transfer begins. No answer for this yet. As for slow startup, a couple things to try… periodically delete your old activities from the watch they will still stay on the website. Also, if there is a place you often start a run from, save it as a location in the GPS menu. For me, when I run from a saved location, the watch takes seconds to boot and then another seconds to pick up a gps signal.
Hope this helps someone. I have a Garmin XT, and have owned Garmin watches for ten years, and this is definitely the last one.
For weeks it will transfer data if I even approach the room my laptop with the ANT stick is in, then suddenly it will not transfer under any circumstances. I have no confidence that any run will be saved and transferred.
Have all of the same problems. Hardline to the number of the installation. Garmin usb devices don't work with windows The driver software for the stick and practical mesh topologies.
The garmin website's guidance was to install the usb driver for the device which i did along with reboots and still no luck. Post 1 of 36 views. Anyone else having difficulty with their XT transferring data to their Garmin connect account? Each time I want to upload new training data, I have to uninstall the ANT agent, re-install and change the settings on the watch itself to enable pairing. Not a major show stopper, but definitely an annoyance. My previous would start to send data to my PC as soon as I walked into my house after a workout. Quote Reply. Post 2 of 36 views.
Little holes formed around the buttons. Post 3 of 36 views. Mine had this issue right out of the box before I even had it in the water. Post 4 of 36 views. Sounds like a massive pain. Post 5 of 36 views. I have had to do this for the past 3 months but it has just changed recently. I now have to enable pairing on the ant agent and then enable data transfer on the watch. I wonder if DCRainmaker has any suggestions,.
Post 6 of 36 views. Am I reading correctly that your issue is with the computer Ant agent sending the data to Garmin Connect, not with the computer receiving the file from the XT? If that's what it is then yes, I am having the same issue and have been for at least a month. From memory it mentions a server error.
I haven't worried about it too much as I don't often use GC anyway and can always manually upload it if I need to. Would be interested in a solution though if someone has one. Post 7 of 36 views. I know you can bypass the ANT and upload manually, but it's more a matter of expecting equipment to do what it's supposed to do. The XT became a handsome grey and orange piece of extra weight on my wrist the remainder of the race.
Simply a case of me not using my equipment properly. Hopefully I've got it figured out by Chattanooga in July. Post 8 of 36 views. You can scroll through the options using the arrow buttons on the right side of the watch. After you have made your selection, press the enter button. The next question will appear. Continue this process through all of the questions:. When you have finished your paddle, press the stop button. Then press and hold the lap button for 3 seconds to reset the screen and save your workout.
When you get home, turn on your computer and your watch, within seconds the ANT stick will detect your watch, download your workout and a pop up window will tell you that you can view your workout on Garmin Connect. You will even see a map of your paddle! This will break down your paddle into smaller increments so that you can see where you were faster, or slower, working harder or not hard enough.
After this initial set up, each time you turn on your watch if you have the HR monitor on, it will beep, letting you know it has detected your monitor. Having a ton of data can be fun and informative and can definitely help you to become a healthier, fitter athlete.
