I just got this same error as well, in Omega Ranch, Ring section. Was heading to where Sarif is hiding in the machine room, it saved ok in the hall outside the room, but once i enter the room and take care of all the mad men standing around, I can no longer save and tying to walk into either hallway causes the same crash as well. I get crash just before last boss fight, from autosaving.

My version of this error happens at the last part of the game when you try to save or auto-save after going down the super long elevator. What I realised was that the error was being caused because on the bridge before the elevator I was dumping 3 to 4 gas grenades to clear the mobs, when I circumvented the mobs using stealth instead without doing anything to them, the error didn't occur probably due to the fact that there wasn't any gas to model.
